This series is about the promises of God behind our hopes & dreams.  The concept was borrowed from the poem, “He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven,” by William Butler Yeats, & inspired by the imagery in Genesis 26:4, “God’s promise to Abraham.”  My baby girl modeled for all three paintings.

“Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,

Enwrought with golden and silver light,

The blue and the dim and the dark cloths

Of night and light and the half-light,

I would spread the cloths under your feet:

But I, being poor, have only my dreams;

I have spread my dreams under your feet;

Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”

- He Wishes For The Cloths Of Heaven by W. B. Yeats

“I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed…”  - Genesis 26:4

IV & V. Love That Makes Us Pure I & II  2011

The wilted rose represents Christ’s death; the white rose symbolizes the purity that it bestows upon us.

“We love because he first loved us.”  - 1 John 4:9

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”  - Isaiah 1:18
